my addendum would be that the setups that some of us find ridiculous and unsafe and therefore not roadworthy are on the extreme end; akin to wearing timb's and baggy jeans to the gym to play ball (back in the day). wearing jordans to the mall is not a hazard, and neither are any of the resident setup hellaflush setup on this board (except gwn :P).
as for the exaggeration, there maybe some truth to it, but unlike some of the more extreme setups (i.e, subie and miata), truckers and absent minded drivers are not wilfully altering suspension setups and such to make them less responsive and capable (like the afore mentioned subie and miata).
