firefox444, which company do you use?
$122/month for 2010 Mazda 3, $180/month for the 2015 WRX and $80/month for the house. We have coverage for 2 people (32 and 30 yrs old) and have 2 speeding tickets which will be dropping in my up coming renewal. I think the reason I got it cheaper was the package deal for Allstate.
I'm allowed to do lowering springs, exhaust, etc with both the Mazda3 and WRX. Just not performance mods...like accessport, intake, dp...which sucks a bit...
So they let you put on mods but nothing performance related? What about if you did a MPG tune? @CloudPump maybe you can answer this.
Is any change in performance voiding your insurance?
I hate how you can increase performance and get denied but if you decrease it's performance (neglect or poor quality after market parts) there is no penalty as long as it is "road worthy".
I know, right? They specifically state no performance mods like intake/dp (not sure if many people even know what it is), AP.
I'm on OTC stage 1 tune for the WRX right now which I un-marry sometimes when I get paranoid on insurance, but accidents can happen anytime. The Mazda 3 is pretty much stock which has no risk, but I think I'll be lowering it again.
I started talking to my broker to get me insurance that allows some modifications...we'll see what he comes up with.
Let me know if you hear any good news because I asked a while back and didn't have any positive responses.
I wonder what the insurance would do if, a mechanic repaired their engine with custom made parts, due to OEM replacements were more expensive.
i.e. replace a cracked casted exhaust manifold with tubular style as the parts were already at their shop. Broken/leaking stock air box replaced with a cheaper cone style.
If you tune for MPG does that mean you have increased performance? lol... These out dated policies need to be revisited. I would love to see the statistics of stock cars in accidents vs performance modded.
I had Elantra that was 3yrs old at 33,000 written off. Modded HIDs, straight pipe riced out. I was at fault insurance still paid me $14,000 payoff no questions asked and i bought car for 20k incl taxs insurance guy said i had a nice ride LOL? And im still with statefarm. MOD ALL YOU WANT!
double post... this keeps happening... is something wrong with the site? @Aitch
I dunno. @S.F.W.
Just got a quote for $114 a month for my truck. but if I add in my home insurance it drops to $96 a month. Just gonna shop around for home insurance now to make sure it's worth combining....I hate insurance shopping.
Mine just went down to $144/m - lowest I've ever paid! I'm in Hamilton.
Mine went down to $333... I have one minor conviction on my record still but not sure what it is as I only had one speeding ticket. Unless the other one I got back when the cop towed it for being "unsafe" lol Id have to get a drivers abstract online to see what it is.
Mine went from 178 to 159 a month. Hurray for being 25 and no accidents or tickets in the last 5 years.
@Firefox444
When you say $118 "comprehensive"... Do you mean that you DON'T have collision coverage on the vehicle?
490 a month just for car insurance on my 08 gs sport lol being 19 does not help
went from $275(2014) and now $220(2015)
$255, in a 2012 speed3, full coverage and first time under my name. and in brampton.
Dude what. What insurance company are you with?
Currently at 396/month for a 2011 Mazda2. In Brampton. Turned 25 in October, though I'm up for renewal fairly soon.
Mine is suppose to be going down, Cooperators said $152/month to $127/month. I'll have to wait for the policy in the mail to believe that.
Personal + mods = baaad

It's just a blog post but is pretty informative.
Pretty much applies to all insurance companies but I agree with you about the personal. I have dealt with them and they are only good if you want to stay stock and save.
I asked them about my winters being different rim sizes and weights, broker gave me a huge rant answering nothing. I told him that the weight of the car affects performance more than anything else. It all comes down to what you can prove in court and what contracts are signed by the parties.
Legal mafias... paying for protection
No, my insurance includes liability and collision (when I say "comprehensive" I really mean those plus other items like having a tree branch hit the car, having the car vandalized etc.). Depending on the specific provider and policy, those types of ailments may or may not be included.
In reality, I would only ever file a claim if a) The damage was the result of another driver or b) The damage resulted in extensive cost (i.e. thousands of dollars). Filing a claim for a few hundred dollars (e.g. minor body damage, etc.) probably doesn't make sense as it would drive your premiums up and you'd probably be paying even more in the long run.
OK, Just over 50, thought I'd see a reduction but nada last year. Then moved from Scarborough to Etobicoke. I go from $1450 to $2250 roughly. Now, the bone I have isn't so much the rate increase, however, as I submitted my change of address, this is when I find out my whopping increase. Instead of offering me another more economical option, they just go ahead an process the address change. Afterwards, after shopping around I find I can get same coverage for $1650, and guess what...so can they with RSA. WTF, isn't your broker supposed to be looking after you, or are they all in bed with the insurance companies.
Looking to switch brokers....I've been with them for 30 years.....can you believe they tell me I now have to pay a cancellation fee, should the had done what they supposed to and offer better customer service this could have been caught just before my renewal.
Do your brokers contact you before your renwal offering you savings or cheaper but reputable insurane options?
Who is RSA? it varies between brokers.
aqAa= Royal Sun Alliance
Was $250 monthly, now after the yearly renewal, it dropped to $218. Boohyaaaah! Safe driving FTW. But actually I wish it would go less than $150 because yeah
Im with TD auto insurance and they charge me $260 a month for 2010 mazda3 hatch. I only selected the basic package.
Does the insurance decrease after you turn 25? If so, must I call (like when I got my G license) or is the rate just automatically lowered in their system?
Renewal just came in $200 off my premium so now I pay $352 instead of $374
2005 mazda 3 gt hatch.
21 years old.
$289/mo with belair.
Expected to pay much more.
