[QUOTE=Booter22;1171737]waiting for my insurnace company to confirm but once the job change happens they said my rate will go down as well.[/QUOTd
don't tell me you're leaving man..i'm looking at servicing my car at buddz just because you helped me out...

Car: 2008 Mazda3 GS sedan
Age:24
Insurance company: Intact
Location: Guelph
1 no left turn ticket 3 years ago, comes off my record before my insurance renews I believe and I've had 2 others that are no longer on my license.
2 no fault accidents 1 which was a 20k rental car write off other was 6k damages to my car (both happened in December 2008)
2012 it was 395 a month, 2013 it went down to 300.95 a month. Now everything comes off my record and ill be 25 this year! I've waited a long time for it haha! Considering after the 2 accidents I was paying 603 with Aviva I'm a lot happier now!
They say I'm an addict but I don't have a problem with alcohol or drugs. I'm an addict because I can't live without bass. Car audio is my addiction. And it will never change.

I've got a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback GS-L.. I live in Richmond Hill and i'm currently 23 turning 24 in July. I have zero tickets and 2 not at fault accidents. I am currently insured with Wawanesa for around $360.. I went online to search for quotes and found a cheap quote with my future employer. When we brought this quote to my broker, he said he would look to see if there was another company that would insurer me for cheaper than what i pay now. I just signed to be with Aviva for $235.27/month which starts in April. woohoo!

shiiiiiiit 360?

Insurance can be confusing. From what I understand it is currently set based on postal code but this is going to change to your driving record soon. Could be wrong?

Please look at the below link from our Financial Services Commissions of Ontario. They are a regulatory agency of the Ministry of Finance that regulates insurance, pension plans, loan and trust companies, credit unions, caisses populaires, mortgage brokering, and co-operative corporations in Ontario. I think this will be helpful in what you guys are asking. (Look at the How your auto insurance rates are set section)

It may have been cheaper for a 'New' Civic because it's new and no history. All older civics are KNOWN high risk vehicles, because as I mentioned very high thefts.
Geez you have a very good rate going $160 is nothing for someone your age....Please be careful and keep it that way.

mine went down with the new job to $202 a month![]()

I can really confirm anything. When I called for a quote on the new car I got chatting with the insurance rep who said there are many factors but postal code had a dominate impact on my rates. He said there some some legislation that would be changing to where your driver record would be the dominant factor over postal code. He could have been talking out of his ass, hence why I cant confirm it.
I know I received discounts on the following and I hope this helps anyone else out (with Meloche Monnex, sub company of TD insurance)
-Work for a University (myself)
-Graduated from University (wife)
-Camera surveillance at work parking lot
-Undeground parking at home with camera surveillance
-Pair home and car insurance
If you have any of the following I would highly suggest you mention it if you haven't already.
Edit: Switza....great link!

^ I'm gonna call TD MM again and mention that I'm an alumni (York U, so I should get a discount), there's camera surveillance at my work parking lot and I park in a garage at home. Last time I called for a quote, they never asked me any of those questions so I assumed they didn't offer discounts for it. Their rates ended up being more than double what RBC was quoting me.

I don't know if all schools qualify or just a few. I work for the University of Toronto and my wife is a Queens University graduate. Its worth a call to ask if there are any discounts or lower payments you can attain based on some of that.
I also have very low mileage / year.
