My e30 gets on road insurance for the summer (it has only fire and theft over winter) starting this month and causes my full coverage monthly for the 2004 3 gt, 2011 3 gx and 1991 318i to drop $30 to $230

2008 Mazda 3, paying $224/Month, 25 yrs old, insurance renewing in October so I expect it would fall below $200/month. the 3 was my second choice, I was getting a new civic si back in 2008 when out of 3-4 insurance companies I called the cheapest insurance as a second driver would have been over $800/month lol.

Insurance companies don't really look at the points, or so I have been lead to believe. They just look at the number of offenses. 3 tickets in one year should send that number up a fair amount.

I had my old grand am down to $94/month (liability only) and I got one ticket for speeding 38km/h over, went to court and got it down to disobeying a street sign and my insurance still went back up to 140 a month that was 2012.

29 and under is 3 points and the ticket was $118

30 and over is 4 points and I THINK a $200 (or more) ticket

...either way I hope it's not a terrible increase since it was my first one

Yeah my initial ticket when I got pegged going 138 on the 400hwy was 4 points and like 310 bucks I think. Never drive angry. haha.

This is exactly right.
If you have three 10 over 0 point tickets or two 40 over tickets.
The 10 over tickets will hurt you more on insurance.

Fighting your speeding ticket down to a zero point speeding ticket is pointless (insurance companies still increase your rates the same) you just have a lower fine.

The only times points mean anything is when you start getting into 3 or 4 major tickets. (Then you should be getting looked at anyways)

The points is for your license only. Too many and it gets suspended, or you lose it etc. Does not factor into insurance.

Since adding my house insurance and my fiance joining my policy, my insurance on my 07 Mazda 3 went from 155 a month down to 88 a month. Multi product bundles seem to help a lot.

Previous insurance... 300.95 per month (3600 per year) with Intact. Got a couple of quotes. Now the new insurance premium will be 183 a month (2200 a year) with Aviva. Woohoo!!

Has anyone checked out www.insurancehotline.com? I just did yesterday and I saved $469 on my insurance. I will no longer be with TD Monnex starting in August; I'll be with Scottish and York (an extension of Aviva). I went from paying $2060/year to $1591/year for the exact same coverage. I'm pretty excited. And FYI to anyone whose renewal is coming up, TD confirmed with me yesterday their rates are going up.

Great place to start and then of course you can always call a local broker as well. That usually will give you a very good idea if what you are paying currently is really the best you can get. Hope this helps a bit

This is a good point to make. I used Kanetix to get a good ball park figure for insurance. Amazed me how large of difference there was between company quotes.

Location makes a huge difference. Where do you live? I doubt anywhere in the GTA.

Anyone else's rates going up this year? I have no tickets and no at fault accidents, just one where my car was hit while parked, and my rates are going up $8/mo with Johnson Insurance from $161 to $169.
In august I'll be a 27/m and driving for 11 years. I'm not happy to be going back up
