I found the trick with transitions (toddler bed, potty training) is partly the right timing (when they're ready) and party talking it up a lot in advance. We went with a toddler bed which he chose (fire truck), talked it up in advance, he was excited the whole way through me building it, so when it came time to finally go to sleep it wasn't too much of a big deal. But he was also pretty used to sleeping in the room by himself, even when he woke up upset I would normally get him calmed down and back to sleep in the room on his own.

Exactly this. When my wife was pregnant with the second one we read books about baby brothers for months in advance and they also talked about it at daycare. When the baby came he was excited. 5 months in and he still loves him.

Same thing with bed although he's always been pretty decent with change. Switching his crib to a toddler bed made it easier to transition him to a full bed in a new room.

Prep seems to be the key.

If I'm there, it will be because I'm getting my kid out of my wife's hair haha. Exposure to cars is a bonus (which he likes anyways). He's 3.25 yrs.

Family friendly show and shine meets are ok

But I would be hesitant to bring my kids to Tuner meets like CarMania, Ertefa, Strada, etc...

Also gotta watch out for young ears - bass machines could be dangerous.

Pretty much same deal here . Mine is 2.5. Not bringing the 5 mth old....

my guy gets sick, 2 days later he's fine.
gives it to me, i'm sick for 2 weeks and now have a sinus infection and on antibiotics, aghh.

I just wanted 5 mins of shut eye, figured i'd hide behind the bear. I failed, he found me.
He'll be 3 next month and already wearing size 11 shoes, we've created a monster. hahaha
