Engine Noise

Hey everyone,

Just picked up a new 2017 Mazda 3 GT. Someone mention the engine was pretty loud. I didn't notice it until they mention it. I thought it was a normal before and just wondering if you guys noticed the engine is quite a bit louder than say a Civic or another competitor class vehicle.

Also is it supposed to cost $90 for an oil change for this car? My dealership told me it was around that much and I was a bit surprised actually. Thought it was have been the $50-$60 range.

$90 includes tire rotation I believe. If you don't want that, it's cheaper.

It is about $60 for the oil change, and $90+for the "recommended" tire rotation.

You don't need to rotate tires with every oil change. Let's assume you do oil changes quarterly, or ever 5,000 kms. Change the tires on the first oil change, and then on every other. This will ensure even tire wear and save you money.

As for the engine noise, it is slightly louder than older cars because it has direct injection, but shouldn't be anything worrisome. If you're concerned, check with your dealership, or compare to another Mazda3 in case it's louder than usual.
