I'm pretty satisfied with my baby Drove to Montreal with just a little over 3/4 of a tank at a constant speed of 120.

that sounds about right. i get about 10L/100 average, and i do 75% city.

Anyone knows how much can i keep going after the Gas light is on?? I am suspecting there are still like 10-12 L in the tank when the light comes up. but then my "trip computer" is saying i only get like 50km left!!

The trip computer is saying avg is 10.0/100Km but from my calcuation it is like 9.5-9.8 and i m like 50/50 Hwy/city

My trip comp shows average of 9.5L... When the 'empty tank' light is on I have about 30 to 35km left...

Long story short (long road trip but funny/stressful story that I won't bother typing here)...gas light came on at 33km (maybe it was 30km) left in the tank. I measured and at exactly 33km the trip computer said 0km left (just like it said it would). I drove an extra 22km (AFTER it said 0km left) before I made it to a gas station. When I filled up the car it took just over 52L of gas.

This was about 60/40 (Hwy/City) and the trip compter said avg 9.8/100km

In my speed I get about 7.5-8L per 100km highway and when driving 100% city to work and back I get anywhere from 9.8-11L per 100km. It isn't hard to get good fuel mileage, just lay off the gas pedal. Like when I'm on the highway I set my cruise control to 110kmh for the whole trip. Also, the use of premium gas will help increase fuel mileage, but only enough to be cost affective in a car that requires it anyway.

Just averaged 8.8L / 100KM on my last tank. Mixed driving city and highway, trick was to keep the revs under 3000rpm. Not easy, especially on the highway, I've never gone that slow on the 401 (100km/h - 110km/h)

My last fill, about 60% city with a drive to Innisfil and back (120kph average)...normal driving. Did 401 km, used 32.504 litres which calculates to 8.1/100km or 34.7 mpg......not bad for January.

I don't know if i'm just seeing things but when I accelerate from a complete standstill, it goes up to something like 60L/100km! is this for real? or maybe it just shows how much gas is being wasted on stop and go traffic? mind you, I'm not even flooring it or getting my rpm anywhere near the red line. shifts at 3K rpm. mine's AT btw.

I'm not sure if you were asking me but I would'nt know I don't have the trip computer in the '05.

Maybe someone with the unit and knows it well can help you.But I would think it will be fairly accurate but also you would have to set it up for average consumption....I would think....Anyways best way in my books is the old fashion way; Fill your tank to click off, zero your trip meter, when you refill write down your kms driven and litres used and calculate.Do this several times to get a more accurate average.

From what I've been able to gather it's reasonably accurate. When you accelerate the indicator tells you the fuel economy if you don't change your driving pattern. (ie. keep accelerating until you reach your destination) Obviously, when you hit the gas peddle and accelerate you will notice your fuel economy goes down. When you stabilize your speed your fuel economy will level off because it doesn't require as much fuel to keep the momentum of the gar going forward.

Now keep in mind if you drive 130 km/hr on the highway your fuel economy is going to be crap because you're going too fast. I've found on the highway that my car gets the best fuel economy between 110 and 120 km/hr.

You are correct. His calculation is also correct... if you use British gallons, which is misleading.

I do the same, and my overall average is just over 10L/100km's. I also notice that the computer's average is less.

Keep in mind that being off by 3L is significant. That's 30%!

thanks guys for your inputs... for me, I still do it the traditional way... and no i don't accelerate all the way to my destination, once i'm on my desired speed, I ease off the gas already. by then the computer says i'm only consuming this much fuel.. sometimes as low as 1.5L/100km. makes sense when you ave it all up. it just bothered me when I saw "60L/100km" on my dash. thanks again

Here we go again! It is not misleading and it is not a scam used by automakers.....didn't we go thru this before? The fact of the matter is in Canada we have always used and followed the British measurement system not the U.S's....pick-up the Canadian Vehicle Fuel consumption guide and you'll see that I'm right.....and to clear things up the manufacturers are only following Canadian law.The only way to get mislead is if you don't realize the U.S gallon is smaller than the Canadian gallon.But nevertheless the Litres/per 100km will never change.

It's misleading because the only meaningful comparison for MPG figures is with US figures. The metric measurement is L/100km. If you're going to provide a figure for MPG, the only value is because we have so much available US literature.

We don't measure distance in miles and nobody buys fuel in British gallons, so why is this figure used at all? Because it makes the numbers look good.
