Right now, mostly city driving, I'm getting about 350 with 1/4 tank left... if I go to the light, I'd probably hit 400

    Off Topic:
Aeroplan Points FTW... (I get them from Gas, Home and Car insurance)

    I drive a 2004 mazda3 GT. 2.3L manual tranny
I've recorded the fuel consumption since I got the car.
Driving is about 65-70% highway and 30-35% city.
    Average combined fuel consumption
    year 1 9.12 L/100k
    Year 2 8.80 L/100k
    Year 3 8.65 L/100k
Year 4 8.77 L/100k (higher percentage of city driving that period)

My average over the last 6 highway trips has been 7.62 L/100k. @ 2000 km total, winter driving with studded snow tires....
I usually burn less than a half tank of gas on one of my typical highway runs (327 km non stop). However, I'm generally always travelling alone and do find that the performance and economy is definitely affected by how much weight I'm arrying.

I het better fuel economy than my wife does with her 2004 civic SE but thats mostly because she has such a lead foot on the pedal.....

I just filled up my 3rd tank of gas on Monday with my 2.5 6spd
    I do 70% highway 30% city
    Original tank was 8.8
    first fill up was 8.9
current tank 7.9 (based off the MID).

The MID is very accurate and got the exact same results as my calculations.
I am playing around with how I accelerate, using cruise control, etc, to try to increase fuel economy and so far on my current tank it says I am at 7.9, but won't know official reading until next week.
I have 1300 km on my car
I will keep you guys posted.

So am I the only one that uses www.fuelly.com to keep track of my fuel consumption for all my cars?

It makes it real simple, you setup an account which is free, then simply input how many kms you've driven and how many litres of fuel you filled up with, and it'll calculate everything for you, this way you can access your stuff online from anywhere.

you can switch between miles and gallons or kilometers and liters.

Share the results or share the forumla? Cause the formula isn't hard to do...mine has 7 columns...they are as follows...

Date | Total KM | KM for Tank | Litres | L/100KM | Gas Price | Total Price

    - Date is pretty obvious.
    - Total KM is the total mileage at that point (larger number...IE mines around 30,000KM)
    - KM for Tank is Total KM of that date minus the Total KM of the row above (EG if filled up this tank at 30,000 and filled up the previous at 29,500 then the KM for Tank would be 500)
    - Litres is how many litres you filled up
    - L/100KM uses the formula of Litres divided by KM for Tank multiply by 100.
    - Gas price is the price per litre of that fillup
    - Total price is Litres multiply by Gas Price

With this, I can see the trend of my mileage, the trend of gas prices, see how much I'm spending on gas, etc. I even went a bit farther and made a 2nd area doing it month by month to average out the mileage. Even have a fun graph too showing my mileage.

I made an Excel spread sheet to calculate everything. I input the date, km's driven, how many liters it took and the cost of the tank of gas. It figures out Ltrs / 100km, MPG and the cost / 100km's for that tank of gas. It keeps an average for all fill ups for Ltrs / 100km , MPG and the total fuel cost to date.

Looks like this, I threw a few sample number in the left columns so you could get an idea.

There is a spot for each of our cars. If you want a copy I will e-mail it to you, just send me a PM. The formula cells are protected so you can't mess them up.

Thanks guys... I downloaded the one at the very beginning of the thread and used that as a template and started my own... It's basically the same as what everyone has.

I won't post every number on here but... I'll go Monthly averages (The average of each fill ups combined in the months.)

    Month| Year | Trip | Liters |Total $|L/100km|MPG (IMP)
    Sept | 2008 |442.3|36.261|$43.66| 8.20 |34.47
    Oct | 2008 |446.1|33.639|$33.33| 7.54 |37.46
    Nov | 2008 |399.5|29.547|$25.56| 7.40 |38.20
    Dec | 2008 |438.7|33.280|$23.09| 7.59 |37.24
    Jan | 2009 |353.0|31.268|$22.83| 8.86 |31.90
    Feb | 2009 |375.5|28.418|$23.63| 7.57 |37.34

First of all the mileage sucks.
I had 2000 Hyundai Tiburon with manual transmission and 55L gas tank.
I could get easily over 500km in the city. Max distance I got was 740km.
I like Mazda 3 but milage is not even closed to what the spec shows.
I get 9.4L / 100km which is not good at all.
Most people gets 400km~450km range with full tank which is pretty much same as What I get. I thought this car may save some gas money but I was totally wrong. I asked people who have Mazda 3 and they all said same thing. Only 400km~450km range max.
