I currently pay $160 a month (no collision), I'm 20, and insured with TD. I think I did really well, as TD gives a significant discount to Western students.

Just out of curiosity...
insurance varies per cars too right?
Is it cheaper for other makers? say... BMW? audi?
lolll just wondering how they would calc it. Just purely based on how many drivers of those vehicles had accidents in that area? lol
I am with Elite which is the old Aviva
I went from a 2007 Mazda 5 to the
2010 3GT and my insurance went down a
couple of dollars a month
I am paying about 125 per month that includes a premium
For business use roughly 30%
All the bells and whistles 2 mil liability 1000 ded for
Collision and Comp

I'm not sure, but I believe it's based on how many accidents that car has had anywhere... and how many accidents happen in that area, regardless of car.
And I'm pretty sure insurance would be the same/more for a BMW or Audi.. just because the cars themselves are more expensive to replace should they be in an accident.

Dam i wish mine was like that i have an 07 clean record got my G & pay $435 a month at dufferin area they said its my area at my work area at bayview i got quote at @250![]()

Never had a ticket

you guys are probably like me and live in toronto/gta, if you want to get cheaper rates move out of toronto proper.
i thought about it but i'd rather pay a little more and not have to fight the commute everyday.
Don't be an idiot, it's not an M3.

I can't believe how much I'm saving now that i'm 25
Absolutely ridiculous, isn't it? The whole insurance system in Ontario is complete bullshit.
What pisses me off the most is the cost of insurance based on WHERE YOU LIVE. It's not like I can just pack up and move to save money.
I was recently discussing car insurance rates with my colleague. Last year he got a brand new 2009 Toyota Matrix, and he's paying $1300/a ($108/mo) for FULL COVERAGE. I told him that on my 2001 Nissan Sentra I was paying $1600/a ($133/mo) for BASIC coverage.
I got several quotes for full coverage ranging from $2400/a to $6500/a! UNBELIEVABLE! So I tried requoting, but using my colleague's postal code instead of my own, and guess what, all the quotes dropped by nearly 50%. It's absolutely ridiculous. Apparently I live a high-risk area or something.
So far I've never been informed by my insurance company that my rates are decreasing. EVERY YEAR they've informed me that rates are going up. When I ask why, they tell me "because everyone's rates are going up and you're subsidizing that cost." I've never understood that. If someone ELSE'S rates are going up, THEY should be the one to pay for it, not ME.
Thankfully I found another insurance company that gave me MUCH better prices. Hopefully they won't keep going up, although I have a feeling they will.![]()
