One of the easiest ways to get an insurance break is to join a proffessional organization. Many of them have arrangements with insurance companies for group rates for their members. For example I belong to the IEEE, which had resulted me in saving a bucketload of money on insurance...

Does it normally cost money to join these professional organizations?
I'm 21 with a 2005 Mazda 3 GT, with two minor speeding tickets (both like 12 over... doh) and I pay 230/month in the KW/Guelph area.
I expect it to go down as I started my policy when I was 20, and I also now will be considered a 5 star driver come this Sept on renewal.
I'm expecting the final rate to be about 180-200/month

Yeah I'm the primary driver on the car, bought it in August last year.
I'm also with Belair.

Yes, it does cost money. But you can probably more than make up for it in reduced insuranace rates. My IEEE membership costs a couple hundred dollars a year, and I saved more than that in insurance premiums. Plus, I can claim the membership fee on my income taxes, and that helps too.

Crystal - I was with state farm paying almost $200 a month and they kept raising. There is a lot of us on here that jumped ship over to Bel Air Direct. I have a lower deductible, winter tire discount, accident forgiveness etc etc and paying $120 a month. Give them a call

+1. Johnson Insurance handles my car insurance as well and they're the cheapest option for me.Originally Posted by aris

I'm assuming Johnson is a virtual company like Bel Air Direct as well??

Johnson is an actual physical company. They are a division of Royal Sun Alliance from the UK.

Ahhh it's unfortunate that Johnson can't provide me with a quote online because I'm under 25 years old.... Looks like I will be calling later on

I asked what my rate would be if I moved back to Toronto [even eastmost part of scarboro], and it almost doubles.
130$ with Aviva(through OTPP) 30 Years old, 9 star driving record. I live in Belleville - so much cheaper than the city.

got my renewal from bel-air, and they jack up my rates. they said the old BS excuse of too many claims blah blah. why do i get a hit when i keep my records clean (knock on wood). so called Johnson insurance, sure enough $1000 less than bel-air. so i switched right away.....ciao BelAir!
