Wow I don't know how you guys are getting some of the mileage you're posting. I think the best I have ever gotten was 7.9L/100km and that was last year and I'm sure I did mostly highway. I commute on Hwy7 in the GTA every day about 18km each way and I'm usually at 80-90km/hr with some stop and go traffic. My average this year is the 9-10L/100km. Seems just as bad as my old 2004 Swift.

I don't think I drive that bad/fast and my starts are on average with everyone else. I don't think I've seen my tank give me more than 430km other than that one time last year.

Just purchased my 2010 GS yesterday so my apologies if this question has been asked before. I know there is no trip computer on the GS, would I be able to find out my mileage on the GS and if so, how? Thanks!!!

Depends, by trip computer, do you mean the one that calculates the mileage for you or the Trip A/Trip B above the odometer? If you have the Trip A/Trip B but not the one that calculates for you, do it manually. Basically L used to fillup / KM driven (reset trip A each time to get the number) then * 100. Example drive 450 KM and filled up 40 Liters. That's 40 / 450 = 0.0888888 Multiply by 100 you get 8.88888 L/100KM.

If however you have neither and you still want to track (or just track in general), I suggest either Fuelly with the setting as odometer reading instead of trip reading and/or setting up an excel spreadsheet doing the same thing (odometer reading).

I have a 2004 Mazda 3 GT and I've been getting around 420km out of a tank of gas - 90% city / 10% highway. That's 13.0 / 100km. Seems quite high. I did use the AC a lot and rolled down the windows.

Just wondering what other people are getting these days?

Since i'm 80% highway, I get 400 from the FIRST HALF of the tank I know it's the bigger half, since I have yet to push it to 700k/tank - but I do get over 600 before filling up regularly. I have the 2.0 stick and shift at 3k most times. I also drive in 4th in the city usually...

Sounds about right for me too. 2010 (only 3300km's) 2.0L 5MT on a recent trip. ~400km's for the first half of the tank. It is possible to get good mileage from these cars, and yours is much older (2005) too!

I also noticed I get at least 560+ with Petro while every other gas station like Shell, Esso, Chevron all gets about 420-450 per tank.

But for my 01 Protege it get better mpg with Shell.

For my 2010 MZ3 HB I get better mileage with Petro even with full throttle at every green light.

    2010 GX 5 spd (no-air).

After a suitable break-in (11000 Km approx) and installation of a K&N filter, the numbers so far are:

6.5L/100 Km. That's about 60% city/40% highway. Also, three drivers (me, wife and 19 yr old son)

I'm a bit over 700k on one tank so far... it's going to be hairy on the way home. I'm thinking I'll make 750 before the light turns on.... How much is (avg) left once the light turns on?

Damn I would die to get 750. I'm assuming you do mostly highway driving.

I honestly gotta say I hate working downtown 9-5. 0% Highway driving for me. I only get about 450 a tank

Yeah, that's about 80/20. One of these days I'll only do 105 on the 401 and shift at 2500 instead of 3000 and maybe get to 800?

I'm surprised since this gas was bought at Mac's and usually it's Shell gas that gives me the best fuel economy (stay away from Crappy Tire - when the people that work there say that they wouldn't buy gas there it says something...)

Good lord, your 3 is better than my beater Civic in gas milage! I suppose me driving 140 to waterloo every day with the AC on doesn't help my economy, but still... lol

Yeah, we also have a D16y7 civic - burns about 8.1-9. That's 95% city. Mostly trips of 5k or less

That civic wouldn't like 140 at all as it's getting kind of shaky at 100. Probably needs a few things done to it but hopefully we'll be selling it soon so.......

Just gassed up my first tank on my new 2010 Speed 3. Since it's still breaking in I stayed out of boost. Did about 10.4 liters. And that was 90% city. My old speed could not do those numbers. Even my GT mazda was only a bit lower than that. I'm happy with that gas mileage for now.

Well I did it. Passed 752 but I was scared - empty tank plus Friday afternoon traffic, possibility of a dead stop around every corner.... turns out that IF the tank really holds 55 litres I could have driven another 100km.

Next time I'm really low, I'll put 5L in a red fuel tank and drive until dry - I know it's probably not great for the fuel pump but I'm tempted... Opinions?

averaging 7.6L/100km on our brand new 2010 GX 5spd. As I have 2 fill ups and now at about 900kms on the Odometer. All city driving.

I'm always quite surprised that so many of you with the 2.5/2.3L are averaging 9-10L/100kms.

My Honda averaged the same with a 2.2L engine putting out 200hp. Although I must admit it required premium gas. Seeing some of your averages makes me glad that I bought the 2.slow engine but still get decent handling.

My wallet has been feeling much better lately since buying the new 3. Now buying regular gas which is about 13% savings over premium and better fuel economy about another 25% savings on gas.

Looking forward to the savings since I spent $4500+ last year on gas alone.

9.8 for me and that's letting it run sometimes. With some careful driving it's pretty easy to get decent fuel economy even with boost. Mind you my commute isn't that bad.

I work 8-5 in the downtown core so I drive local there and back from North York. I get about 400KM per tank. YIKES
