Default TM3 Racing League - First Meet (2011-07-06)

The inaugural meeting of the TM3 Gran Turismo Racing League was a success!

Attendance for this first meeting was four members from the board, plus one extra who joined us in an RX-8. In total, we covered four tracks: Autumn Ring, Special Stage Route 5, Eiger Nordwand, and of course the legendary Nürburgring.

Without further ado, here are some pics!

And of course, no set of races would be complete without some dramatic incidents...

    Next time: TM3 Flying League!

Full details on the GT5 Racing League may be found here:

We hope to turn this into a regular bi/weekly Mini-Meet, once on Wednesday night around 20:00, and a second meet sometime during the afternoon on the weekend.

Next firm one is same time next week - Wednesday night around 20:00 or so.

There's been a fair amount of interest in a second timeslot, probably an afternoon on the weekend, but no firm commitments from anyone for that timeslot yet.

If you have an idea for a good time, feel free to post it in the Mini-Meets thread and I'm sure some people would be interested in joining in.

this is pretty freaking cool...a good use of the photo features of GT5 rather than just pretty pics...it's just like one of our track meets!

we definitely need to keep this going into the winter time...

I read the title and at first I thought it was like a real racing league like on a race track somewhere. Totally forgot about GT5. If the next race is tomorrow, I hope its earlier on in the day as I will be going out to see the movie Horrible Bosses in the evening. Looks pretty funny. BTW are the cars supposed to be maxed out because mine is and I'm sure you guys know you cant remove the engine upgrades. Also, anyone else here have a race wheel? I'll be rocking the G27 come race day

Well, the idea was we all race with Axela 23S at 425PP, and soft sports tires. As for the upgrades, you can always tweak the power limiter.. Wednesday of next week is a definite race day..

Ya I know about the limiter but if you use it ot lower it too much, acceleration after 4000 RPMs is pretty weak so I try to avoid it as much as I can unless I find a way to tune it so it can benefit some how, I assume adjustable LSD, customizable transmission and suspension is allowed?

Hmmm, I wasn't aware that that's the case.... Mine ran fine with all upgrades, but lowered the limiter to match 425PP.. Everything else is allowed, so make it as light as possible. That's what's gonna determine the winning lap, in addition to careful corners.

Forgot to answer this earlier - there is a live voice chat function, although during the last series (i) I didn't have my headset paired and (ii) my sound settings were screwed up so I could barely hear anyone. But it is there, in addition to a text chat which works fine in between races.

Even fully-built then detuned, the cars are all pretty competitive. If possible, I'd like to keep it at 425~450PP range just so that there's a variety of different approaches people can take (detuned full, weight, turbo, power, mix of all, etc).

If you want to bring in another Mazda or a car similar to the MZ3 that'd be fine too though. We had an RX-8 with us pretty much the whole time, plus a few others such as an RX-7, MR2, and a C30.

I'm actually working on a Demio/MZ2 I'd like to try out next time.
