Has anyone on here used a NRG quick release steering hub, or know anyone who has on a speed3? I want as much info as I can get about them before buying one.

You sure you want to do that? What about the airbag?
Check this thread out. A speed 6 owner replaced the steering wheel.

"It is amazing how many drivers, even at the Formula One Level, think that the brakes are for slowing the car down." -- Mario Andretti
Ahh, that makes me look like an *** for not knowing. Ofcourse she's a racer.
Well, that one review that I pulled out didn't have any negatives on the NRG kit. I mean it's a speed 6 but I would think it'll be similar to the speed 3.
Found another discussion about the hub. LINK
Used to have one. Really neat and very quick and easy to use. No deffirence in steering feel
Sorry I should have mentioned that this is for a preped race car and not my street car.
Thanks rzapata those are great links!
PR3Y11 - Was the one you had for a Mazda3 or a different car?
It was for a diff car so I'm afraid my experience won't be of too much help to you.
Since ur at won't be on the road I'm sure you won't have any issues with it though. Def a nice feature to have esp if ur seats don't move lol. Makes it a lot easier to get in and out of the car
i have a hub (not quick release) in my room, still need to install it

rachelle, remember you from track school last summer. You run at any of the non-pro race series this summer?
Oh damn, that sucks. Oh well, I stopped reading the Speed section because according to certain people only speed owners are allowed to even look at that section.
Those hexagonal ones wear out quickly and never fit very well. Go with a weld on splined quick release.

Awesome info thanks,
I was looking online at the Pegasus as well as the Woodward and they both look really good. Do either of you have experience with thses? Someone I spoke with uses the NRG and he said for a quick release it doesn't actually release quick and he would probably have problems if he really needed it.
I've used the Peagasus style one for years with no issues. You do have to line things up properly and weld on the spline. I'm currently using an NRG on a customers built race car and it sucks. You can see the steering wheel trying to flex off the hub when we push the car (no power steering, race tires, 3.5 degress of camber and max castor) and after 2 weekends of use it shows a lot of wear.
I wouldent be using anything NRG on a race car. You need something sfi rated.
Ide suggest one of the woodward hubs. Lots of race cars use those
