seems like insurance prices are really high in Ontario. I'm paying ~$85/month full coverage for my 2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3 (no tickets, no demerit points, 1 not at fault accident.)

Hey Guys/Girls, I have a question regarding insurance...I contacted my insurance yesterday (TD - Melonche Monnex) to ask about rims/lowering just so they would know I planned on doing it. The person I was speaking with told me that if I lower/do any aftermarket mods such as exhaust etc that if I were to get into an accident and they were told about mods, that I would a) no longer be insured with them and have to find new insurance in 30 days and b) they wouldn't cover a penny towards my accident because they don't insure modded cars. He suggested if I DO still want to do mods to find another insurance company who will insure me, but because my age (23) I will be paying a high premium to be insured with mods...any suggestions? (he was very nice through the whole process and was just giving me a heads up...)
Thanks in advance.

I'm with TD Insurance
My rates dropped by about $30 bucks a month to $205
1 not at fault accident
1 speeding ticket - 3 years ago august so it should be taken off i need to call them about this one as it comes off after they re-calculated my rates

That's the shitty thing about insurance in our province. I'm facing the same dilemma now as I want to start modding my car as well. I'm with RBC insurance and I think their policy is the same, no mods. I'm actually not sure if any insurance companies will cover us if we actually disclose our mods. Let me know what you end up doing.

Jesus! i wish i had that, i pay $320 for a 2012 sky, and im 22
edit, i posted earlier in the thread but i also have one at fault accident (illegal left hand turn) as well as, since i drive more than 40 or 50km away from home, i have a higher chance of getting into an accident on the 401, so they charge me more.

Yeah youre right around where the rest of the people your age are. If youre looking for options to make your insurance cheaper id say:
A) change your residence to outside of the city if possible, makes a huge difference
B) if you dont have winter tires, i suggest you get some, my company knocked 300$ off my policy just because i purchased winter tires
C) ask your insurance company if they have a student discount and if the school youre planning to go to is eligible.
Well i'm 30 years old....I traded in my 2006 Lancer Ralliart(before they made it turbo) and the insurance on the Speed3 was cheaper!!! HAHA! I couldn't believe it. But insurance is better on the east coast than it was 10 years ago. The prices were astronomical in the early 2000's....highest in canada actually
