I'm deciding between two watches right now.

The Armani Ceramica Mens Watch AR1400
http://s7ondemand7.scene7.com/is/image/FossilPartners/AR1400_main?$armani_detail$

and the Burberry Chronograph Mens Watch BU1372
http://image.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/i/j/nanaple_bu1372

Which one do you guys prefer?
What do you guys rock?

I got a Gucci G Chrono...But I would not recommend buying Gucci or the two that you have posted....

Get one made from an actual watch maker...

Edit: I bought mine out of impulse...lol

The three watches in my current rotation are:

Citizen Eco Drive Titanium 200m Chorono

Invicta Grand Diver Automatic 300M (this one is HUGE)

Seiko Black Monster 200m Automatic - still one my favorites

When I worked at Sporting Life, the Nixon Player watch was by far the most popular

A tad plain in my books tho. But I do like the Nixon Banks watch better

Water resistant up to 500 metres, Stainless Steel bracelet, deployment clasp or fold over? I forgot..lol.
And its a genuine black mother of pearl with a dragon cut out =) I thought it might be cheesy but it's actually really nice!
It's an automatic watch as well, with SW200 movement.

Warning though, it's heavy and definitely not for skinny guys, because the watch is BIG lol You need to have thick wrists to pull it off lol

that's a real watch there! Omegas kick some major ass. If you're going to spend some real coin on a watch you might as well get one that's actually made by a watch manufacturer. If going for pure looks I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a "fashion" watch.

Can't find a picture of my watch online it's an older model. but it's a lorus with a steel strap and a white semi rectangular face no numbers on the dial, just pointers. will post a photo later

Bad luck to buy a watch for your bf/gf if you're superstitious. It is said that you'll break up 6 months after giving the watch.

Don't go with Burbarry....my roommate has one and the chrono messed up and it's a cheap feeling watch (and its a real one)

As for the "don't buy a watch for your bf/gf I'd say it's true. I had never heard that before, but I've gotten one watch and 5 mths later we were done. My roommate got a watch and 3 months later he was done. I'd say it's true!

If you're superstitious to that point, buying someone a watch technically means you're buying someone "time"... Which means you're limiting the person to only a certain amount of time left to live. My wanted to get me a watch for Christmas but wanted to tip-toe around this so she told me she wanted to buy me a watch, had me choose one, then gave me money for me to buy it. Loophole :chuckle

Personally, like the others recommended, it makes more cents to buy a watch from a reputable brand than to just buy something from a fashion brand.

If you're going to choose strictly between those two though I'd go with the Armani. It looks quite nice (except for the Armani logo in lieu of the 12, it looks tacky). The Burberry looks wayyyy too generic for the kind of coin you're probably going to be spending on these things.

It's a Japanese model which I picked up through eBay. It replaced my Omega Seamaster (call me crazy) as my everyday watch - it is silver and seemed too flashy, hence the all-black Casio. Of course, now I am looking at probably picking up one of these:

Chances are you are out of luck. IMO a Timex isn't worth fixing. More than likely, your timex is not fixable anyways, as it's probably just a single circuit board.

Thanks. Not a pilot, liked the look of the watch and I wanted an all black one. I do work on A/C and travel quite a bit. All A/C paper work is done with reference to UTC so it's nice to have on the face all the time too.

If I can offer one piece of advise...don't cheap out on a watch that you plan on replacing every year or two. Invest some money into a quality timepiece that you'll keep for the rest of your life; I promise you will not regret it.

What car would you get with $4k - $6k more in your budget? And who has the $11k - $13k watch? I could have boosted my car or bought my watch. I chose the watch because it will outlive the turbo and my 3. With the cost of my watch added back into the car budget what would you be driving and what would you be wearing on your wrist? I'd take my mazda 3 and my Omega any day over a mazdaspeed 3 and calculator watch.

Although I do not care for watches, I can appreciate the fact that Breitlings, Rolexs and Tags hold significant value and can become a great investment. Who cares what the user drives, anywhere in 15-25+ years down the road, the watch will still hold value (maybe more) where the car will be scrapped or recycled.

No worries man! I wasn't digging on you, I was curious about how the $4k - $6k would affect someones choice of car; it's arguably a lot to spend on a watch, but fairly insignificant in terms of the cost of a car, imo.

LoL - Tag shouldnt be NOWHERE NEAR these watches. I mean my RADO alone is worth 2 Tags. Whereas a Rolly is easily worth 10 of my RADO's

Thats like saying Maybach, Bentley, and Toyota.

I agree with a lot of the comments about getting yourself a nice watch from a reputable watchmaker. It is something that you'll have for a long time. But from there it all comes down to how much you can or want to spend. I wouldn't go spending $5,000 - $10,000 if you are still saving for a house or something like that. IMO there are some nice watches out there for under $1000 that might fit the bill. I bought a Tag Heuer Formula One years back while on vacation and I love it and I want to buy myself an Omega someday but it just isn't in the cards right now. I picked up a Citizen SkyHawk which I am really liking for the price too.

Good luck in your search.

I really like the Tissot watches. All of them to my knowledge use the sapphire crystal that is on the more expensive watches and prices are reasonable. Bought one for my wife while in Paris. Prices are even better there for the Tissots.

That rolex is a beautiful watch. My question is, if you've got the cash to rock a 4000-6000 used, or closer to 11000-13000 new watch, then why driving a mazda 3??
I don't drive a 3 :)

I'm these boards to support another local Mazda community.

he probably spent a good chunk of money on the watch and couldnt afford a better car.. or maybe a car is just a car to him lol
My car is definitely more than just a car to me. I purchased it back when I was 19 and before I was making any sort of decent money. I'm now finishing up my Master's, teaching at McMaster and working in a clinical research lab at the Hamilton General Hospital. I'm saving for a house so buying a new car isn't exactly a priority at the moment.

Then why would he be on TM3?
See above. I'm a local Mazda6 owner who is over here supporting another local club.

Cars are horrible "investments".

I'm gonna sound like an ass for saying this, but why pay for a flight computer on your wrist if you don't need it/know what it is/know how to use it? Is the pilot watch a fashion statement now? :S

I think they look OK... I personally wouldn't wear one mainly cuz I don't dig huge cases. But my question stands, if you're gonna drop a few grand on a watch why buy a built in function that you won't use?

my take on watch collecting:

any self-indulgent douche with 10K to burn on a watch can own a Rolex or Breitling
All it tells me - is that people have too much money.

That being said - I also notice people only posting web-pics of their watches. Which only tells me either (A) people are talking a lot of smack and don't actually own these watches, or (B) you shouldn't be driving a Mazda 3

Just sayin'
Now don't get me wrong - I fully share the love of these time-pieces, and I too, am an amateur collector.
One thing I learned about "collecting" is not all pieces need to have 5-digit price tags.

just my 2 cents

I have a small collection. Its very modest, with this one being the highest end by far. I'd rather throw my money at the house etc, so lower priced quality watches are fine for me :)

Seiko for example... great bang for the buck. The movements are good enough for TAG lol

Fack_Dude and Booter - thanks!

Been collecting for about20+ years. But I sold a lot of novelty pieces for weed and hash back in the mid-late 90's LOL

Then in the early 2000's - I got married had a kid, bought a house and started buying cars. So the collecting kinda chilled out until recently.

Funny thing is - my Collection is worth less than $2.5-3G combined - not even half the value of one watch a lot of people are claiming to own

Gotcha - never heard of it till now LOL
I'm VERY reluctant to start looking on that site for fear of spending (more like borrowing) money on more timepieces.

Mortgage, kid, pregnant wife and 2 car loans definitely take priority over watches I probably can't even wear (allergy to nickel content in metals)

For some reason - I actually believe in your collection (or at least some) without seeing photo proof. It's not difficult at all to own some of these timepieces. Some of my best friends got Rolex and Breitlings as grad or wedding gift.

Hand-me-downs are actually very common as watch collecting was very popular in the 70-80's. then Swatch came in and ruined a lot of the hype LOL.

One of the pieces I sold was an old pocket watch. I found it in the closet in my house when we moved in. It was busted and thought it was useless. Pawned it off about 15 years ago for $400. Few months later, I saw it in the display case (repaired) going for over $1500 :(
Apparently it was almost 100 years old

But what I don't believe, that for a "Dodge RT Enthusiast", with a Mini, BMW, and Benz - you're even on these boards LOL

Haha, I had a Chrysler Intrepid R/T that I'd modified extensively. It was my baby; had it well past 240K. I traded it in for my Mazda3, which I'd still have if it hadn't blown up on me. Mazda dealer was at fault there.

My life's gone through some extensive changes. I'm not as car ADD as I'd appear here. The Benz will be around for 10-12 years for sure, especially since it gets less than 3,000km/year put on it.

Also, I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that I don't even have close to $100,000 total invested into watches.

not all breitlings are that expensive. i find the ones that are, are usually the gaudy ones with diamonds and stuff hence the inflated value. once you add precious stones to any watch, the value goes up

Wasn't knocking on it. Just found it a little funny that they are completely different styles.

And yes - I have pieces that I wear daily that aren't everyone's cup of tea. Nor are they expensive by any means. I wear it cause I like it. Not for swag.

But there are also pieces I don't wear because they aren't replaceable or because I'm allergic to the metal.

I've always wanted the original Luminor Panerai... it's just one I never got around to buying. How much, if you don't mind my asking?

The Parnis ones are usually around $100 depending on the source.

There's a watch on that list for $133k....

Though if I had the money I'd rather spend that on a watch than a bottle of wine

I have zero intentions of buying another Panerai. Thinking of selling the Scuderia Flyback FER00014 I already have.

Just arrived, two Panerai homages from Getat. Extremely well packaged, great boxes, fantastic straps.

Titanium case with "seal gray" strap:

Already on the wrist, black face w/ gray numbers, gold hands, seal brown strap:

(the face looks slightly blue here but is not. Immediately noticed I hadn't screwed the crown back down lol)

Think I ordered on Oct 30, they shipped around the 6th, and it arrived today. Only spent about 3 days with Canada Post from what I can tell, while my last watch from the UK took a week after crossing the border.

Finally came..

I think they took longer because I customized them a little, request different hands etc..

How's the quality on those Getat's?

I was just browsing the site and they look quite nice (and good price)

But am a little shy after the last homage I bought fell apart after 6 months light use

Yes, by tomorrow you'll probably have either a confirmation email or the actual PayPal invoice in your inbox.

I am a huge fan of that Tissot PRC200, been meaning to get one the last couple of years but have just never got around to it, I really like the yellow on black contrast, I think I will eventually get it with the metal strap though

I myself used to find that owning a watch was costly as I kept breaking them constantly. Haven't owned a watch for a long time but I love them none the less. Wanted to get into the Military and was looking at this brand.

http://www.specialopswatch.com/products-page/hawks/black-hawk/

Haven't bought one yet but I will once I finish college as a present to myself. The only thing that can stop these watches is literally getting ran over by a tank. These are watches you would own for life!

Steve these look great. I ordered some MM, but from Parnis, not Getat. Are those both 47mm?

Beautiful watches...for the price I might pick up a couple. Were they purchased from the Parnis/Getat websites? or Third-party. Just wondering so I can order from credible sites that you guys have used.

Was going to get a Fossil but I think the better quality of Police will serve me well. Now I'll start my watch collection with this watch.

Kind of ironic, I've been looking around for a watch that I like lately and I just seen this thread haha. Some beautiful watches on here my god !

I'm leaning towards a Nixon Private SS.. Its cheap but decent quality from what I've heard..
