Watched Oblivion on Monday. The cinematography was great, CGI was cool, fun to watch overall. Lots of holes in the plot but none the less id give It a 6-7/10
The Score though was fantastic id give it a 9 out of 10.

Saw Django Unchained a couple of days ago, man that was a good movie! Poor Jamie Foxx though, he seemed to get lost in the scean stealing of Christoph Waltz, Leo Dicaprio, and Sam Jackson. Is it me or is this one of the most quotable movies ever? (well, just not around black people). And if someone in the late 90's/early 2000's tried to tell me Dicaprio was going to round into a good actor, i'd have shot someone! LOL

Iron man 3 wronged the extremis plot, wronged the mandarin character, and wronged Tony stark. They had an amazing story in the comics to stick to but Hollywood ruined it with their spin on things. The reveal of the mandarin did it for me. Turned into a sideshow comedy. Literally had me question the genre of this film. Felt like it was a movie made by a 13 year old for 13 year olds.
Then again, after the Avengers, dark knight rises and Spider-Man from the year prior, I expected something more

To be honest the director said originally he wasn't going to include the Mandarin because in the comics he was a poor caricature to begin with. I like what he did. Seriously having a fu man chu character would have been silly to see on screen wearing that awful outfit and his rings shooting out bolts.

Look for Thor and Captain America to be much darker. Iron Man would be tough for Marvel to change based on the previous two flicks. Iron Man is now more popular that Spider Man in the movie world.
Hopefully the reboot of the Iron Man series will change things

Man of Steel. Story was meh, action was great until it became really repetitive. Seriously, count how many times someone gets thrown through a building or vehicle. Amy Adams was a poor choice of Lois Lane and Lawrence Fishbourne was a waste. Was he brought in as Perry White as DC's answer to Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury?? At least the scene on Krypton was pretty cool.

Saw Man of steel yesterday night. Amazing movie, I loved it! Then again, this is a Zack Snyder movie, so if you didn't like 300 or The Watchmen (which I loved), chances are you won't like this either. But what he does do well is stay true to the cannon. He definitely does fan service with this one! It's a beginning story told minus the drudgery of having to sit through 45 mins to an hour of the clumsy, awkward adolescent phase of the hero's life unlike spiderman. It was a fresh and enriching take on a story told countless times without the serial repetition and the expectation of what's to come. Unpredictable and engaging. Hands down best movie this year to date, a movie made for the adult audience and not the comedic, outlandish, plot hole ridden butchery of an extortion made for younger movie goers. For that there's the spiderman, xmen and iron man trilogies. Better than Iron Man 3 (which was a let down for me, can't believe this movie is getting worse reviews than that action comedy). On par, if not better than Batman begins, the defacto standard of an exceptional origin movie. This movie makes no concessions or compromises. Exactly the Superman movie everyone has been wanting and asking for, and this film definitely does the iconic hero justice! Felt satisfied 100% with nothing left to be desired. 10/10.

I thought I would totally geek out on this one, especially with all of the good reviews it has been receiving, but I almost nodded off in a couple of places! SFX were really good, some characters were annoying and proto-typical and in some places it seemed a lot like Michael Bay's Armageddon (damn you Michael Bay!). No need to see it in 3D or worse yet, D-Box.

I've been all over the spectrum in terms of the types of movies being watched over the past several weeks. In no particular order:
The Big Chill (1983) - It was the 30th anniversary showing Tiff which influenced my decision to see this film again after 25 yrs. Storywise, just as entertaining as it was back then but cringing at the fashion statements being made.
Man of Tai Chi (2013) - Interesting directorial debut for Keanu Reeves, provided that you have no expectations for it being nothing more than an old fashioned kung-fu flick on the corruption of innocence.
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - Khaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Grandmaster (2013) & Ip Man The Final Fight (2013) - Both are slow paced. Given a choice, I would watch the Grandmaster again due to the cinematography and choreography.

I watched Fast and Furious 6 on the plane...what a load of crap. It gets 1 point because of the fight scenes with Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano and another point beacuse Jason Statham makes an appearance in it. 2/10.
Saw this movie after reading your spoilers. Geez man lol I can't believe I'm saying this, I somewhat enjoyed this. Tokyo drift turned me off completely (bow wow), after hearing how much this one grossed, I skipped 4 and 5 to watch this. Mildly interested again.

I am bored at work. 250ml of maple syrup is in the same ballpark (100ish calories) as a large chocolate milkshake from McDonald's. Disturbed.

You're probably missing a zero or 2....
You're right - I was way off.
McDonalds Large shake has MORE calories than 250ml of maple syrup.
McDonalds Large Shake (Chocolate): 1160 Calories (according to mcDonalds Canada website
Aunt J Syrup:
http://www.auntjemima.com/aj_products/syrups/orginal.cfm
875 Calories in 250ml.
In other words... you could have a pop can full of Maple syrup - or finish a large mcDonalds milkshake, and you'd be roughly par.
*shudder*
This all reminds me of an african swallow argument. Time to watch some Monty Python and get back on subject, lol.

Gravity. That was some gnarly shit...highly recommend
World War Z. Entertaining, a decent movie, mildly scary, but it wasn't jaw dropping or anything. I was able to predict every major plot twist before it happened. Really pissed off the fiancee when I did that though...
The Way Way Back - 7/10 - went in expecting nothing, and it was alright. Coming-of-age drama.
The Conjuring - 8/10 - Again, went in expecting the typical horror/suspense film. But came out pleasantly surprised. Did have more than a few parts where it kept you in suspense. Liked the fact it was based on a true story.
Monsters University - 4/10 - I thought it was going to be at least as funny if not a bit funnier than the original. But sadly, it was a huge disappointment. Don't bother with this one.
The Lone Ranger - 8/10 - I know many of you won't remember the Lone Ranger from way back in the day. I barely remember it. But people complained this movie was no good and that Pacific Rim was way better.
I went in expecting a horrible movie where I might have to fast foward certain parts if not completely stop the flick altogether since it was deemed awful. But I came away with it really impressed! Could of the plot been better? Yes, sure. But you gotta remember this is a movie based off the TV series. If you take it in that context, I think they did a pretty good job.
About the only thing I would change is the run time. It's a bit long. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.
And it blows Pacific Rim out of the water! :)

Over the Christmas break, when I actually had power to do so:
Pacific Rim (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1663662/?ref_=nv_sr_1) - Mildly entertaining mashup of Transformers/Godzilla/Stargate. Sadly it does not measure up to del Toro's earlier works.
Casino Royal(2006) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381061/?ref_=nv_sr_1)/Skyfall(2012) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1074638/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) double feature - even after multiple viewings, both films were still enjoyable.
Mary Poppins (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058331/?ref_=nv_sr_1)/Sound of Music(1965) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059742/?ref_=nv_sr_1)/Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062803/?ref_=nv_sr_1) - Haven't seen these films in nearly 40 years...and they passed the test of time.
The Wolverine Extended Cut (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1430132/?ref_=nv_sr_1) - sadly not based on the 1982 comic mini-series but considering that I haven't followed the character since the early 90's ( except for Old Logan Series), the extended version is as graphically realistic as they can get to replicating Logan's infamous berserker rages. Worth seeing IMHO.

Wolf of Wall Street.. 4.5 stars from me. it has mixed reviews, but if you know what you to expect you will enjoy it. It is kinda like Boiler Room from 2000 but with a lot more swearing and sex.
American Hustle... 4.5 stars. Story line was good, but amazing cast and stellar acting made up for the script. I will be very surprised if it doesn't sweep the Oscars.

Wolf of Wall Street. I liked the movie, but it was a bit long. Lots of profanity and nudity but the story line hits home

Watched Horrible Bosses the other night. I've probably watched it 10 times in the last few months and I laugh so hard everytime. Then again Jason Bateman, Jason Sudekis and Charlie Day are awesome together and Kevin Spacey plays the biggest a-hole ever and is wicked at it. Also saw The Lone Survivor. What an awesome movie. Mark Wahlberg is amazing at what he does. Plus having Ben Foster and Emile Hirsch adds to the awesomeness. Must see!

Yeah Horrible Bosses is a top-10 comedy for me. Bonus is a sex-crazed Jennifer Anniston. RAWR.

Rush, Gravity, Wolf of Wall street, Frozen. Hoping to watch Dallas buyers club this weekend.
All were good movies. Wolf wasn't classy for a Scorsese film, didn't know he was capable of taking it to that direction lol

My wife is fairly certain that's the reason I watch the movie. It is hilarious otherwise though.

saw Jack Reacher last night. Pretty good.
Also saw Inside Llewyn Davis recently. It wasn't a feel-good film but I enjoyed it. Some great music throughout.
