View Full Version : What's the last movie you watched?

I love movies. Unfortunately nowadays, I just don't have the time (or funds) to just hit any random movie playing in theatres.
So to help filter the good from the bad, I'm calling on fellow (post-whore) TM3ers to post a review based on the last movie you saw.
Please no "Siskel and Ebert" reviews. Just good 'ol "real people reviews"
So, what was the last movie you saw? Could be in the theatres, on DVD or aired on TV. Should others watch it or skip it?
The last movie I saw was "Warrior"
I like it because of the obvious adrenaline and testosterone filled fight scenes, but also because of the title characters quote "It's easy money. I fight these kids that watch too much UFC"
I really enjoyed it - worth a rental (or DL)

Last movie I watched was "In Time".
IMO, It's a great concept society, but having seen the trailer prior to downloading the movie ruined it. It made the movie way too predictable.
I'd still suggest you watch it though :D

Last movie I watched was The Devil Inside.
Was getting awful reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, so me and the GF decided to check it out on cheap movie night for jokes. I really didn't think it was as bad as the reviews were saying... A pretty generic "demonic possession" flick (let's just say both her and I had no trouble sleeping), but definitely not as bad as expected.

Ok posting my review of Underworld Awakening here since the "It's Friday..." thread is closed. :)
Underworld's awesome folks!! No wonder they're number one. Action packed with great unique storyline. But in the end, it's kind of too short. I'm not gonna spill out any of the scenes but if you like the underworld franchise, you'd definitely like this one as well. I'd give it a 9/10 just because it was to short and they could have added a few more scenes.
It picks up from the 2nd Underworld. This time with a different enemy. :)

Cool stuff. We saw it in 3D because believe it or not, that's the only thing available.. I didn't think 3D is necessary, it made the screen darker. But it's good altogether. There were scenes where I actually leaned further back to avoid stuff flying around. :chuckle
More on the movie itself, I think that this movie showed the vampire side of Selene even more. There's something that I also did not anticipate. Not sure if they had mentioned it in Underworld 2, but yeah, it's awesome! :) Looking forward to the next one.

2012 was horrible
Like when the city is turning upside down, and everything is exploding, and the roads and buildings collapse and fall into the abyss and it's pure anarchy....but they still have cell phone reception?
And with the whole world in danger, it's the US that saves them. But for some reason they have to travel to another foreign country to where these US-designed-and-made boats are being built.

2012 was definitely one of the worst movies ever, but it still entertaining to watch when it's on tv and you're bored. Kinda like The Day After Tomorrow.

Dark Knight Rises ... I was a little disappointed, there were a few things that didn't quite make sense. There were a few more Hollywood cliche's than I would have liked. It would have been better if the story was more developed and immersing, felt it was a little over-simplified especially for the amount of time the film run.
The ending twist was nice, but I didn't like the end end (I won't say it here just in case people are still going to see it). Overall it was a good movie, I'd say 7.5/10, Dark Knight was still better.

When it hits theaters, definitely check it out.
It looked to be a final print, just needs the opening and ending credits done properly when it gets picked up.
First time I have seen Jason Bateman in a serious role and be did well.
Was surprised at how many people were sobbing coming out of it.
I probably have a cold heart or something but it was a great movie, may be an Oscar contender in 2013

Also went to see Gangster Squad a week ago.. loved it.. better than The Departed.. very similar to L.A. Confidential.. but seriously, it was perfectly casted IMHO.

I saw it last night. But I have to disagree. Although the throw backs were clever and funny, it just seem like they took up the story. And the villain showing gay intentions towards 007 when he was tied up in the chair? Yes it was a fresh idea, but it wasn't in the realm of the James Bond franchise. IMO. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did all the previous films.
I was wondering why it came out on DVD/BR so quickly after just coming out in theatres less than 5 months ago. I kinda saw why.

Argo - a surprisingly entertaining thriller but I can't see it being an Oscar winner.
Man With the Iron Fist - if you enjoy Shaw Bros films, this will keep you in sh*t & giggles
Pitch Perfect - big screen version of Glee...that barely makes the audition cut
