Ertefa Meet Thread

i remember the first meet i ever went to which was the MASIV Monday Opener in sauga. It was freezing...but look at that turn out. Maybe it is a long drive for some but the spot is only 10 minutes away from the old one (if hwy 407 is taken). For people from the East...it's closer...for people from the West it's further. You can never have the "perfect" spot for a meet in Ontario. I think Ertefa should do 2 shows...one on Tuesday and on on Thursday. One of the days have it in the westend and the other day have it in the eastend. People in between can go to either. I also think small meets are more fun...you can make friends with everyone and meet every week knowing everyone and how everyone drives...a.k.a TRY and stop drag racing....just my thoughts though...everyone has their opinion.

But if I see anyone trying to race near the neighbourhood later at night - I won't hesitate to call the cops for disturbance. That's my biggest issue in meets like these..

I won't likely be there, but just so everyone knows, you're in the division that docks the York Police "Air 2" helicopter. You WILL get caught speeding down highway 7, the heli patrols that area A LOT. If going westbound from ertefa, watch for cops on your right just after the dufferin bridge (you'll have just passed a gas station 500m from where you're about to get nailed). If going eastbound, I've never seen cops up there, but there is active construction so you may find some staking out that area.

Silver City (the very nearby theater) is a major site for fights and local gang activity. Thus, the police are there every night Thursday - Sunday, seriously. The location of the meet is now also 60 seconds away from a Tim Hortons...that should speak for itself.

Don't be an idiot, lol, these cops are hard asses, believe me on that. They will treat any sort of stunt driving, excess music/revving, or speeding (especially in an event like this, when it would have been 2 division that busted those racers with the helo last time) like the sale of crack cocaine to small children. You will get fined, and maybe even arrested. So, I say again, as a 20 year resident of the division, DON'T BE AN IDIOT!

Very well written and interesting article . Though I am concerned there may be details we are unaware of on the Ertefa side. Did they incur any costs to run the meets ?

As the author I know the whole story very well, and I know all sides of it. The only fees they had were garbage bags and their own personal time....and I was there helping clear garbage and bringing garbage bags a few nights. I don't knock the guys for trying to make a little cash, hell I'd be happy if they made a TON of cash, but it has to be done the right way. I wish them all the best in success and that Ertefa get's back to it's glory days.

As for now, I am un-sure if they are paying out of pocket to host the meet. They are not too happy with me so I have lost the inside scoop. If you want meets like this to continue I advise that you support them through buying their warez, grab a sticker/t shirt or lanyard.

Stopped by Ertefa as well, from what I saw, it was mostly well behaved. A few guys doing engine revs, and an organizer quickly came by, and politely asked them to refrain, and they did indeed stop.

Imagine what the news would think as much as they exaggerate their coverage!

Chrysler 300 SRT8s have 19 speakers when equipped with the Harmon Kardon audio package...and also have 470hp exact, hence my guess.

I drove a bunch of those all summer long (had one in my driveway for two days)

The sound system is remarkable...HK killed it with the system. Otherwise, it's a good cruiser and that's really about it. The SRT gauges are fun to play with as well.

I had the grey Audi S5... I literally pulled in, was almost smacked into by not one, not two, but three cars, and parked. Within about 3 minutes I had a bunch of people posing/taking pictures with the car, so I hopped in and left. A riced out white W204 Mercedes C-Class whacked a Mercedes CL with black wheels on Yonge just north of "High Tech" or whatever that street is called. There was ridiculous traffic the whole evening.

Also the smell of weed was almost unbearable. Seriously; these cops need to stop pulling people over and making sure every damn part on their car is legal; they need to focus their energy on other stuff.

Those stupid red boxes Ertefa assigned was so pointless. Basically the meet extended from Ansley Grove to Weston Road.

This sums it up for me:
The people who ripped it got pulled over right at Highway 7 and Weston.
People need to learn how to walk when cars are approaching the aisles and not act like they're invincible.
The poor people who drove by there who weren't with the meet were stuck.
All I smelt was gas and weed.
Garbage on grass, garbage tucked under vehicles, garbage everywhere!

My word of advice;
Ertefa needs to form a better team and enforce proper entrance and exits before throwing a location and letting people come.. Like sit down for a meeting and discuss what areas people should park first as well as which types of cars should park at which spot. Not just throw out a map and draw red squares.

I don't see these weekly meets lasting for 3 more weeks.


What I'd like to see:
A daytime meet something like Sunday noon at D&B. That way there aren't any people revving and ripping it on 30km/h roads.

IMO (I've only been to one but been following online for awhile) when Ertefa first started they were concerned about organization, had people parking, etc. Then it got bigger and started getting more attention so they just started concentrating on making it 'Canada's biggest car meet' and less on organization.

As for garbage were there garbage cans? Last year I offered to buy a few garbage cans for the meet and put some SIE stickers on them if they needed some to set up at parking lots with insufficient can numbers and they basically just ignored the suggestion.

I will probably make it out to another one again this year... if it sticks around.

and this is why I have never been to Ertefa. Also I agree with the sunday afternoon thing. Last year there was a cars and coffee event that used to go on ever sunday morning at bayview village. Alot less tuners and more higher end exotic cars showed up ( people will respect you and wont talk crap about your ride regardless of what you drive) but everyone parked wherever they wanted to park and the whole event was generally well organized. Granted we only had about 20-30 or so cars show up. Was still a very fun event. I will post more details once they start doing it again. Also Sunday mornings are ideal because most of the ricer crowd tend to do meets at night and couldnt be bothered with showing up to another meet the following morning. As a result, the event that I went to didnt have any of the stuff that draws people away from events like Ertefa.

If thats the case I am glad I didn't go. Doesn't sound like the kind of atmosphere I would enjoy. Didn't see that much garbage as some claimed... too busy checking out cars and discussing mods with people to look around for garbage on the floor lol. I looked at all my landscape photos and didn't see much garbage in any of the photos.
My only problem was parking... Huuugeee turnout left many to park in other lots outside the designated area.
All in all My buddies and I had a blast. See you guys at the next one :)

know what your getting into and what people kind of people that could be there. always be careful and mindful of everyone and theyre cars. last thing you want is to start anything bad. this is why i park a bit further away from the meet. not going to go every week since its become so crowded and full, but i will go occasionally. probably head to kc more often cuz its less than 10 minutes away from me

Ertefa started as a facebook page in 2011, not a car meet, it wasn't until last year that they started doing car meets. That's what sina told me anyways.
And the meet didn't get huge until June-ish. And they will get shut down if the shit keeps happening, just like they did last year. Just because you don't see the bad shit, doesn't mean it doesn't exist and isn't causing huge problems. These guys are not getting paid to organize and run these events. They're doing it in their spare time. At some point they will say "f*ck it, it's not worth wasting all my free time over" and stop trying to find new places to hold them.

Personally, I think they're good people doing a decent job. It's definitely not easy to get 1000 people in one place and try to keep the peace. But they need to take it easy with certain things. Because in all honesty, Ertefa is only as good as the people that actually go.

On a seperate note, I actually enjoyed Ertefa. Parked and dropped the car, and then had a good time looking at other peoples. I'll probably keep on going if it stays within the same proximity of me. The best was Bayview & Hwy 7. But they screwed that up pretty good.
