ertefa makes some money now, no? !
Probably, but that doesn't mean they'd want to spend it. If they end up renting out a place, I'd assume they'd charge an entry fee for cars.

Just a thought, what about the new Toronto Premium Outlets? Haven't been in the parking lot myself but it seems to be pretty spacious.

This.
Also I bet most property owners don't want the hassle and liability that comes with a car meet.
It's a bit of trade off I guess then. Without the meets, they'll have no revenue being generated. I think spending a little bit of money from their side project (no way they make a living off of it) to get a stable location would ultimately increase the amount of money they make off of it.
Ah well, who knows, guess we'll find out soon enough!
The liability thing does make sense though, could see that being a big issue

Come to 519 meets. Was last night, and the sunday after next, and every 2 weeks there on out. We have a lot in Kitchener ( toys R us lot at franklin/fairway)
Its free, and no cops or douches showed up yesterday.

What they should do is move this meet around. 1 week say in oakville. 1 in sauga/ Brampton. 1 woodbridge way and one further near Markham. That way people that live far from wood bridge can enjoy some shorter drives and then the place its being held isnt always pissed with some losers doing burnouts and or smoking pot all the time

That would be hard as not everyone checks social media every week.

I would be. I don't think they run it well enough to make a full living, especially not all of them. If they do though my head will explode.

I went to high school with a few of them, they dont need to make a living, their parents make it for them. This was back in the day when Sina was a prime example of a ricer. The automatic stock integra let me try drifting this thing around the school parking lot kind.

Less then a week left for ertefa first meet/car show all admission $10. Interesting how they are doing things for their first meet of yearhttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05/15/4ba9eaf14e7a763c5ec2a81b65552d50.jpg

bingo...though most of us knew that was the ultimate goal.
They're gonna be making some serious doh now. There's no doubt that tons of people are still gonna be heading out to it.

The idea of them doing a show isn't entirely ridic. They did do that one before at some tire shop I can't remember the name of. At that show they also said to me that there was no money in meets.
Anyway, doing it on a Thursday night, at Markham fairgrounds, the week of not one but two all day weekend events at similar price points is a bit silly.
Also how long can they say they are Candada's biggest car meet when it isn't a meet?

Really disappointed that it's not a "meet" anymore. They definitely dropped the ball on that.
The point of a "meet" is to meet(duh) the people and see the builds that are done by regular people (just like you), with smaller budgets (just like yours). You can relate to the people, be inspired by their vehicles, and maybe even get an idea or two to carry over to your own build.
Going to a "show" to see cars that people don't actually drive (often), built by people with shop sponsors, bottomless cheque books, with no actual knowledge of their build because a shop did it for them, no interaction, "stay away, stay behind the rope, don't get too close".... is no fun...
"meets" are care culture, "shows" are just marketing.
At least CSCS is the same week/weekend... I would rather go watch a couple rough-around-the-edges garage builds zip around Mosport and see all the cars of the people who come to see the races, than go see a bunch of trailer queen shop builds compete over who has shinier paint...

don't get it twisted, a lot of the guys that go to Ertefa have put their blood sweat and tears into their builds. And it shows.
I think they are charging admission now for a couple reasons. A) it gives them the power to let in certain people and not others...aka the ones that cause trouble. B) it gives them the money to pay for a site rather than getting kicked out of one because Canadian Tire, or some plaza complain to the Police for loitering which realistically car meets generally are all guilty of. C) it might maybe give them a bit of income, and will help to cover advertising budgets, and D) they can donate some to charity for good publicity, and to hopefully (looking at the big picture here) Help to repair the soiled reputation of modified car enthusiasts.

Just curious, will there be a TM3 premeet before going to Eretefa? I know a couple mazdas that will be going from the sauga/brampton area.

plus it will be much more organized with finding a spot to park. Last year at Heartland town centre I parked across the street and walked over, it would've been impossible to leave early otherwise

Well I was wrong about getting a spot... Spotted a couple tm3 cars there but didn't see anyone near them. Black gen 2 with turquoise or Tiffany blue rims, and a red gen 1 hatch near the gate entrance
And it was nice to meet everyone that did cruise down together!

Honestly I think cwp_hatch is being kinda harsh on it. I thought it was pretty decent last night. Not too much stupidity. Unfortunately it was a bit disorganized and for a site they said would fit everyone. It definitely didn't. But it was a first time at that location and there were actual attractions. It's trying to be an actual car show and realistically $10 admittance is not bad at all. I know from running a few events myself how much a location can cost and 10 bucks is nothing. Sure they probably made money. But I'm happy they made something as opposed to nothing. It will get better and with them having an official venue they won't have the problem of being kicked out or shut down after a week or two. It will get more organized and I would like to see all the cars able to park in the same area since that was their goal.
But I was happy to see that there was no snobbery (at least not from the Ertefa staff) in regards to who and what cars they let in. It was first come first serve. And they said in their blog any and everyone is welcome no matter what you drive.

Glad everyone enjoyed the meet last night, but from 12:00am - 1:00am all I heard were cars revving the shit out of their engines and gunning it down McCowan or Major Mac AND there was def racing going on. A weeknight in an area where people live like 10 min away from the meeting spot is NOT a good idea. I'd like to get in touch with the organizers and submit my thoughts. Anyone have ertefa's contact?

Lol geobur. Overall sure it was "decent"...first time at a new venue. But organization didn't seem well at all, people were everywhere and half the cars weren't even able to get in and the main lots weren't even full. Also I didn't say anything about $10 being expensive, nor do I care if they made money from it. BUT when you pay to go you'd expect alittle more...I've been to shows for free that were better. Not to mention this isn't Ertefas first meet...you'd think they'd have some organization and show prep experience etc...anyways just my 2 cents.

Overall I think last night could have definitely gone a lot smoother, there are things that they certainly could of done to make things run smoother. For instance the entrance into the place was such a cluster ****. They should of had more staff and those people should of taken the 10$ + give you your wrist band + sign the waiver. Why did you have to go and hunt down people at the front gate. I'd have to agree with @cwp_hatch (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/member.php?u=18334) that this not Ertefas first car meet, so given that I was expecting a little more. Another thing they could of definitely directed traffic around the surrounding area a little better, don't think I will be going to this again.
They also should of had staff in each parking area, and tell people where to park instead of making it almost a free for all once you got through the front gates.

Import expo and even further back, dark Knights (for those who have been in the scene long enough), have had just as many cars out for their events and things went smooth as ace. Problem is that there was poor planning, not enough staff, and no one outside of the gates other than police. How is t that the other events managed to fill up the SAME venue, and not have this crazy mess!? I've been an Ertefa follower since it was a handful of cars in the underground, this was the most disappointing event ever. To go wait in line and almost get side swiped by impatient ppl, just to be turned around more than an hour later at the gate by the police officer stating the event is shut down. Pshhh

I agree with Jdm_dudebro, it was very poorly planned. Waited over an hour to for the cops to tell you no more cars allowed... thats BS! I know the event finished at midnight, so it makes sense to close off the gates before... but at least update when the gates will close (or if they ran out of tickets as some ppl were saying) on social media... its just disappointing. Best bet, arrive early next time

Hey guys, I was working the event last night. Obviously things could have gone smoother but for the first time at this venue, things would most likely not be absolutely perfect. In fact, far from perfect. The turnout was incredible last night, I'm talking over 10,000 people by far. The main venue area was overpacked very quickly after the 6am start time and the guests kept on coming long after that. The peak hours of the show where if you were in the venue, you would be thoroughly enjoying your time was definitely between 6:30-10:30. I feel like the people that came after that tended to be a little more disappointed/barely satisfied with the show. This is a learning experience since Ertefa will be putting on more shows at this venue, and I'd assume that it would only get better and not worse. Let's not completely shun out the event quite yet, with community feedback and internal observations, Ertefa will reinvigorate and innovate in the car meet scene. Provide some feedback and ideas for improvement to me through the private message system or here if you prefer and I'll forward your them to the organizing staff. Thank you & I hope to see more of you at the next meet!

I think I saw you you lot at the esso gas station just before. We were the group of gennies that rolled in for a few minutes.
And on a side note organization was very poorly if you came anytime after 730pm. We were fortunate enough to wait to get in for only 20 minutes where as people were waiting for almost 2 hours as McCowan was backed up all the way to the 401, and same as elgin mills, backed up for kms in both directions with only one entrance to get in. We parked in the very back lot which never even got filled up, not sure why. There was room for I would say approx 500 cars or so and there was about 75 in it. I just don't think they expected this many cars to actually show up and were pretty understaffed an unorganized for the amount that were there. I don't think they have really had "Show" experience that why it turned out like this. It's usually just one main lot they tend to look after and the people just fill up others and try and sort it out themselves(last year heartland, and previous la paloma), which seemed to be the same type of thing as this. After they got the buildings and main lot filled there was no direction where to go and cars were just everywhere.

I think as an insider you couldn't appreciate the ppl on the outside waiting from 9 n beyond to get in, but instead had no idea that the event was closed already and not one representative was seen outside the main gate. All the power to you for trying to herd the cattle but in all fairness I saw hundreds more being told to leave and redirected home after waiting for over an hour in the line up. The pinnacle of this community is respect for everyone no matter if they come first or last, race or show... Should have been better communication to the ppl in the line up. Not to mention all the money that could have been donated.

What I meant was filling something like a huge van with a whole bunch of subs just to be really loud doesn't do anything for me

oh ya well totally not my thing...but it was pretty impressive...really nice sound quality, and pretty sure he had anti-vibration stuff in the body, and the lighting effects he had going on inside were all pretty cool...if you like bleeding from the ears that is.

+1...that's what I said last night. Cool you have a big bad sound system...in a huge van. -_-
Maybe it's to get their name out, but still.

It was probably full of dynamat.
They do it all the times for the competitions. The vans end up weight something ridiculous like thousands and thousands of pounds. Some can barely even drive anymore...
Don't get it

Gotta have the mids and highs while your at it. Can't be all about the bass. I do love my bass but it wouldn't be right without everything else.

That looks like a demo van.
I kind of get it. What I don't recommend is sitting in one. I shot one for PAS and the owner gave me a demo. No word of a lie my hearing was ****ed for the better part of two days.

that shit will make your heart skip a bit
The SPL drag racing is even more stupid IMO. You played 1 frequency really loud. Cool sound system bro
and it's really expensive

I've actually been in that RF van. It's loud but as loki said it's all bass. But it's insane bass.
